Hi Troops,
Good to see a few more letters to the editor this month – The Caloundra Weekly on 22nd July in particular had 3 long letters, all about saving the airport: no others.
Yet another planning document has been put out by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council, on the development of “South Caloundra”, (now on maps) intended to hold another 50,000 people. When the 3 councils amalgamated, they had to guarantee the jobs of all staff in all 3 councils for 3 years, and I’m sure they must be putting many of the 1,600 employees to work, writing up such documents with all their verbosity and council jargon.
There has been yet another change to the transport corridor, but once again it goes right through the centre of the Caloundra Airport.
The document is out for public consultation for only another week. PLEASE, even if it’s only a couple of paragraphs, write to the address for comment, and object to the placement of the transport corridor and the destruction of the airport. If you need some help with any part of it, send me an email. You don’t have much time. It closes for public comment on July 31st 2009. Go straight to the document by clicking here:
